For those wanting to learn more about the science behind the global warming trend and its consequences, how this trend interacts with all aspects of our lives, and what we can do to address this looming crisis Southern Oregon Climate Action Now developed and has offered annually since 2017 the Master Climate Protector – A Primer for Action course. After 8 successful sessions, the course is undergoing a transition. Starting this year, it will become a Southern Oregon University Environmental Science, Policy and Sustainability Department course, entitled Living with Climate Change in the Rogue Valle (Spring 2024 it will be listed as ES 199 – Special Studies). While this transition now makes the course available to interested SOU students for credit, the course will continue to be available at minimal cost to community attendees who are not SOU students. Registration for community members is now open. For more information visit https://socan.eco/living-with-climate-change/or contact alan@socan.eco

Zine is short for magazine. Join new friends to talk about and create zines. You can create something very short and simple, or connect with fellow creators to start a series. All are welcome, whether you just learned what zines are or you've been making them for years.
What do people write about in their zines? Everything! There are zines about pop culture, personal reflections, art, travel and more. At the cafe, you'll get to see locally made zines, and books about how zines became an important form of communication.
Supplies will be available. We'll also have snacks, coffee and tea.
Have you been waiting for the right time to get back to work on that novel or short story that’s started collecting dust? Or maybe you just need some inspiration to kickstart a new writing project? Join us at the Ashland library for our biweekly peer support creative writing workshop! Each participant will choose an excerpt from their project to read aloud and receive feedback from the rest of the group to help improve their work in a positive and collaborative environment.
Advance registration is requested but not required. Please bring a copy of your work to the library ahead of time if you need assistance printing extra copies.
