JPR operates one of the largest broadcast networks in the United States. Much of our equipment is housed in remote mountaintop communication facilities that can be difficult to reach during harsh weather conditions. Very few of these facilities have back-up electrical power making them susceptible to service interruptions when commercial power fails. Additionally, many listeners receive JPR via low-power FM translators which are not able to be monitored in our studios. Because of these factors, JPR relies heavily on listener reports of service anomalies, impairments and outages.

Service Alert: Humboldt and Mendocino Counties

Updated 10/25/23 - We are moving forward with the process of transitioning to a more stable data line connection and new vendor, which will significantly improve the quality of our service in Humboldt and Mendocino Counties. Getting this line established has taken way longer than we hoped due to fighting through layers of telecom bureaucracy. That said, an initial site survey has been completed, and we are awaiting details on the cost and timeline for construction.

JPR announces two News & Information FM stations to improve service in Siskiyou County

JPR has completed acquisition of two new FM stations that will improve its service in Siskiyou County. Effective immediately, the following FM stations will carry JPR's News and Information Service:KSYC-FM | Yreka | 103.9 FMKHWA | Mt. Shasta/Weed | 102.3 FMConsecutive with the sign-on of these new stations, JPR will discontinue operation of KSYC-AM/Yreka on 1490 AM and its FM translator at 97.9 FM.
