Jim McIntosh
Classical Music HostJim McIntosh was born and raised in Scotland, and his involvement with radio began when, as a 22-year-old, he was hired as a news clerk by the BBC in London. The position was short-lived, however, as he married soon afterwards and he and his new bride departed the United Kingdom in search of a new life in Canada.
Fast forward to his retirement years in the USA, following several careers, none of which had anything to do with broadcasting. Now settled in Ashland, Oregon, radio raised its head and opened its arms once again. Having responded to an appeal for volunteers by Jefferson Public Radio, Jim has been serving as a part-time volunteer announcer of classical music since 2007. The work involves substituting for the full-time classical announcers as needed, on several occasions each month.
It seems he's come full circle, although it took almost a lifetime to get here!
