Unfortunately, there is another problem affecting our service in Humboldt County at this time, which has to do with condensation in our transmission line. The water build-up eventually causes our equipment to short out, and our engineers then need to manually purge the transmission line. We are currently looking into a permanent solution to this problem and have a site visit planned for this week.
We will continue to send updates as the process of improving our service moves forward. In the meantime, we encourage you to listen online or through the JPR app.

Published August 2023:
Over the past several months, we've experienced a stubborn (for us) and frustrating (for you) problem with the telecom data line we lease to deliver our audio from our Ashland studios to our transmitters serving both Humboldt and Mendocino counties. After numerous attempts to solve the problem with the vendor, we've decided to take a different approach so that our service becomes more stable and reliable going forward.
Unfortunately, the best solution we've discovered will take several weeks to implement as we work with a new vendor to initiate a dedicated higher bandwidth data line and reconfigure the microwave path that is an integral part of the system that links our transmitters. Reconfiguring our microwave path will also require FCC approval.
We want you to know that we're actively working on this problem so that our service becomes better and more reliable in the future. We expect the final solution to take approximately 6 weeks, but we'll do our best to push this forward as quickly as possible.
We're grateful for the reports and the information many of you have provided to help us troubleshoot this issue. We'll continue to do everything possible to keep our service as stable as possible on the old system as we work on this longer term solution. Do remember, you can always hear us by streaming us at ijpr.org or through the JPR app.
