Like many artists living in the midst of an extended shutdown, Stables has been working focused on not "going mental." During a period over the summer when restrictions in France were relaxed, This Is The Kit entered a studio in the south of France with a full band to record some live performances from Off Off On. That work proved fortuitous, as touring for the foreseeable future seem to be in limbo. In lieu of an actual in-person visit, we were gifted a front row seat to an exclusive mini-concert.
During the session, Stables spoke of her interest in playing with meter and rhythm in her singing, and her desire to keep certain aspects of each song's meaning undisclosed. She also talked about her experiences with a variety of socially-distanced concerts during the pandemic.
